In a studio movie paradigm where male = universal and female = other, it’s bracing to see a female at the center of a film. And in the gender calculus where rational = male and emotional = female, it’s a pleasure to see emotions validated.

Those are two of the many reasons I loved Pete Docter’s and Ronnie Del Carmen’s Inside Out. Another: It’s great to go to a movie attended by people of all ages.

I wrote about it here. As you’ll see from the comments, many view this as a kiddie movie. Thoughts on how Pixar has reinvented the movie for people of all ages?
