Like the song of summer everyone dances to and may have been on the radio during your first kiss, the defining summer movie evokes many memories, especially when there were no or low expectations. There have been many such summer movies in my life, memorably Stand by Me and Clueless. But because of the awkwardness of seeing a sexy movie with a neighbor who was engaged to be married, Dirty Dancing might be my definitive summer-movie memory.
