Obligatory Oscar theme piece for The Philadelphia Inquirer on how characters in peril longing for home, health and love binds this year’s best-picture nominees in a year that purveyed more angst on screen than is likely to pervade the hopefuls in the Dolby Theater tonight.

Do you see a connection among the nominated films? Thoughts? How is this year different from other years?

Similar to yours, the protagonists were incredibly resilient, persistent smart and a little lucky.

  2. Sorry to weigh in kind of irrelevantly as far as timing goes, but every year the Oscar news coverage (your own commentary excepted) seems to drag all the nominated films, those contributing to them and participating in them, and the whole movie awards process down another several notches. That being said, I don’t think Gravity needed any help in that regard. Special effects aside, what an awful movie, but certainly one calculated to touch the hearts of people voting awards.

  3. hello! , Is fantastic crafting and so a lot! proportion we be in contact more to do with a person’s document with Yahoo? I actually need an experienced with this living space to unravel my own dilemma. Could be that may be a person! Taking a look in advance to see you.
