Roger Ebert 1942-2013

roger1Update: Here’s the obituary.

I spend a lot of time in the dark with men who are not my husband and my favorite companion for this type of extramarital (and purely professional) fun happened to be also the and wisest and wittiest, Roger Ebert, who passed away today. Here’s something a wrote a few years back.

Collecting my thoughts for his obituary. Share yours here. And love to Chaz Ebert, his widow, who kept Roger going and was generous enough to share him with us.

Roger Ebert is the reason I love film. I grew up reading (and watching) his reviews. This is a great loss of a true role model. RIP Roger.

How a few words from Roger Ebert at the Cannes Film Festival still stand out as the moment my life changed forever… http://bit.ly/16u6RSH

  4. Really excellent obituary. I loved the Laurel and Hardy comparison.
